Well, she did it! She entered the bus and is now back in the public school system. Today we asked her if she was excited and her answer was yes, but also a little scared. Fortunately, we have a little neighbor girl that will be in the same grade as Mia and they are both excited to share bus rides, lunches and recess together. Here are some departure pictures (and yes I cried). I am really going to miss spending the day with her.

Buck + Butter, A Story by Mia Curtis
She received Honorable Mention and will be given a certificate for her achievement!!!
This by far is the coolest project in the world! Mia decided to participate in the Reading Rainbow create a book competition. She really did a fabulous job and we are really excited for her. She was determined to finish and was extremely proud turning in the book today. Click here to see the book.

Weekend in PA
We traveled to Philadelphia this weekend! Friday night was the art show (the Clay Studio is wonderful)
on Saturday we went site seeing
and on Sunday we traveled to Greg and Jackie's house to see their new baby. The kids loved the adventure and they were excellent hikers in the cold temp. The kids loved seeing the liberty bell, swimming, jumping across the beds in the hotel room and falling down on the beds.

Lions and Tigers and Bears....
I did not know that there was a zoo in D.C.! Yesterday we visited the Smithsonian National Zoological Park. We had a really great time visiting all of the animals in the zoo even though the lemurs were hiding. I even tried singing to them... i like to move it move it... everybody on the dance floor. They have probably heard it a million times and are pretty sick of all of the extra attention. The leopard seals were very entertaining however, we had to hide Myles's penguin.

Baby Zebra
Today we traveled to the Lacey Spring Stable to visit a baby zebra and his trainer. Not only did we get to see a baby zebra we were able to feel one too (and yes, you can feel the stripes). His name is Zoro and he is 4 1/2 months old. Definitely a memorable experience. We learned that baby zebras are born brown with white stripes (notice the legs) and then black hair begins to take its place. By spring Zoro will be black with white stripes or is it white with black stripes???
This is such a great photo!

She is an Incredible girl
Yesterday we volunteered at the community school in Harrisonburg. I think that we will be helping out at the school every Thursday morning. The kids loved the imaginative play and the new games. Mia LOVED the Incredibles costume. (If anyone comes across the Violet- Incredibles costume size 7-10. Please let me know) She definitely is a super hero!
